Every Spring, racing returns to Perth. The carnival season begins in early December and hosts some of the best races Perth has to offer, such as the Railway Stakes, the Perth Cup, and the Northerly Stakes, which takes place at the home of racing in Western Australia, Ascot Racecourse. All the major Saturday meetings are at Ascot during the Perth Summer Carnival.
The Summer Carnival kicks off in December, and it offers an unmatched list of brilliant races, including the Miss Andretti Stakes Day – one of the Carnival’s premier sprint events – and the Ted Van Heemst Stakes day, which is the first big race day of the Carnival.
The Perth Summer Racing Carnival offers not only brilliant hospitality and quality racing but also an unbeatable atmosphere for racegoers to revel in over the festive season and beyond.
Queensland is home to some of the best racecourses in the country. And they will once again be host to the hugely successful Queensland Summer Carnival. Eagle Farm Racecourse and Doomben racecourse are just two of the great racetracks in the Sunshine State and host some of the best races in Australia. Also in the racing world is the new state-of-the-art track surface at the Sunshine Coast Turf Club.
Building on its recent success, the Queensland Summer Carnival will again be coast-to-coast. The racing season commences with the Mooloolaba Cup in November and culminates with the Star Gold Coast Magic Millions Raceday in January. Along the way, there are also the Magic Million auctions.
The Raceday on the Gold Coast consists of two races which are the highlight of the season: The Magic Millions 2YO Classic and The Magic Millions 3Y0 Guineas. The former is a 1200m Listed race restricted to two-year-olds bought at the Magic Millions auctions, while the latter is a 1400m race restricted to three-year-olds bought at the same auctions. The total prize money for each is a whopping $2 million, with the winner getting $1.2 million.
Some other main races include The Wave Raceday, The Golden Ticket, and The Sands. With some of the best races in Australia and plenty to keep the bookmakers busy, the Queensland Races are great for racing enthusiasts and casual racegoers alike.
