The Northerly Stakes Race is a Group 1 race held yearly at the spectacular Ascot Racecourse in Perth.  It is one of the major races at the annual Racing Carnival, held in Perth and a highlight of the Australian racing calendar. 

The race is a 1,800-metre weight-for-age event and the highlight of Perth’s Spring Racing Carnival.  Winners include 2021’s winner Regal Power, and the winner from 2020, Truly Great. The most recent horse to win back-to-back races was Playing God, winning in 2010 and 2011. 

In 2022, the prize money on offer was raised to an incredible $1.5 million.  The traditional Masters racing carnival is being reinvented as The Pinnacles and will feature five races across five days, with about $10.5 million in total prize money.
