Magic Millions is Australia’s premium thoroughbred auction house. It is a leading source of champions and high-class racehorses. More than 5000 horses pass through the Magic Millions auction ring each year at 20 different sales events.
Two-year-old graduates of the auction, or those passed-in, are eligible to run the Magic Millions 2YO Classic. The Classic is open to both genders and run over 1200 metres under Set Weights conditions. The event marks the culmination of the Queensland Summer Carnival, and this year takes place at the Gold Coast Racecourse in January.
The total prize money for the Classic will be $2 million, with the winner getting $1.2 million. The Magic Millions Raceday is one of the richest meetings in the world, with over $11 million on offer.
2022’s winner was Coolangatta, ridden by the jockey James McDonald, and the year before it was Shaquero and J. Bowman. The race was first run in 1987 and won by Snippets. Many exceptional two-year-olds have won the race, including Golden Slipper winners Capitalist (2016), Phelan Ready (2009), and Dance Hero (2004).

The Magic Millions Guineas is a 1400 metre restricted, Listed race for three-year-old graduates of the Magic Millions auctions and is conducted under Set Weights and Penalties conditions. It takes place at the Gold Coast Racecourse as the culmination of the Queensland Summer Racing Carnival. This season’s race will take place in January.
The total prize money of the Magic Millions Classic is a spectacular $2 million, and the race winner gets a whopping $1.2 million. The Magic Millions race day is one of the richest in the world, with the total prize money over $11 million.
Last year’s race was won by the horse King of Sparta. Other notable winners include Gold Edition (2007), Sweet Idea (2014, Mahuta (2016), and Ha Ha (2002), who also holds the record for the fastest time at the race with a winning time of 1:20:38.
